An ethnobotanical survey was conducted to collect information from traditional healers on the use of herbal medicine in Doddakavalande Hobli, Nanjangud taluk of Mysore District. The indigenous knowledge of local healers was documented through questionnaire and personal interviews. In the present study, about 19 respondents of age group between 50 to 89 yrs gave information of traditional medicines used to cure different ailments. Of about 35 plant species belonging to 26 families were used for the treatment of human ailments. In which family Fabaceae and Polygonaceae contained 3 plant species, followed by Acanthaceae, Amaranthaceae, Apocynaceae, Cucurbitaceae, Poaceae contained 2 species each, and the rest of the families Amaryllidaceae, Anacardiaceae, Apiaceae, Aristolochiaceae, Asteraceae, Cleastraceae, Crassulaceae, Lamiaceae, Lecythidaceae,  Meliaceae,  Olaceae, Phylanthaceae, Piperaceae,  Plumbaginaceae, Poaceae, Polygonaceae, Rutaceae,  Smilacaceae, Solanaceae,  Styracaceae and Zingiberaceae. Habit wise analysis of medicinal plant species used indicated that herbs (19 species) were the most preferred life form followed by trees (8 species), shrubs (5 species) and climbers (3 species) for drug formulation. Herbal formulations were administrated either internally or applied externally depending on the type of ailment. Local people in the study area possess traditional knowledge of medicinal plants to treat various human ailments, therefore it is necessary to preserve the indigenous knowledge on traditional medicines by proper documentation, identification of plant species used, and herbal preparation. Text-to-Speech translation using Support Vector Machine, an approach to find a potential path for human-computer speech synthesizer

Text-to-Speech (TTS), an astounding feature to assemble computer with intelligence and to induce sound is seemingly a challenging task as it is related to the propagation of uncertainty with the input. This is because TTS evolutes the input based on the probabilities and not with certainty ratios. TTS is accomplished by generating the sound structure/phoneme and then classifying these phonemes in the phonetic dictionary. The Wards' algorithms, BIRCH, Support Vector Machine (SVM) are used to figure out the appropriate sound representation for the given context. To distinguish correct elocution, the SVM procedures are equipped with the principles of pruning. The output was analyzed using divergent stages of uncertainty. In order to study the effect of the output 10 listeners were considered for determining Signal-to-Noise (SNR) ratio. SNR shows that the errors of both type phase and uncertainty were approximately 6% resulting 94% of accuracy. These results manifested that SVM stratagem can be used to obtain better results for TTS synthesizer

FACTORS INFLUENCING JOB REJECTIONS IN CLOUD ENVIRONMENT

    Get PDF
The IT organizations invests heavy capital by consuming large scale infrastructure and advanced operating platforms. The advances in technology has resulted in emergence of cloud computing, which is promising technology to achieve the aforementioned objective. At the peak hours, the jobs arriving to the cloud system are normally high demanding efficient execution and dispatch. An observation that has been carried out in this paper by capturing a job arriving pattern from a monitoring system explains that most of the jobs get rejected because of lack of efficient technology. The job rejections can be controlled by certain factors such as job scheduling and load balancing. Therefore, in this paper the efficiency of Round Robin (RR) scheduling strategy used for job scheduling and Shortest Job First Scheduling (SJFS) technique used for load balancing in reducing the job rejections are analyzed. Further, a proposal for an effective load balancing approach to avoid deadlocks has been discussed

Comparative clinical study of Nasya Karma and Shirodhara with Prapaundarikadi Taila in Ardhavabhedaka w.s.r. to Migraine

Background: Ardhavabhedaka is a type of Shiroroga with the cardinal feature of unilateral headache, which if left untreated leads to complications like blindness and hearing loss. This disease can be correlated to Migraine head-ache based on the clinical manifestations. Nasya Karma and Shirodhara are the prime treatment modalities for Shirorogas. Objectives: To evaluate the effects of Nasyakarma and Shirodhara in the management of Ardhavabhedhaka. Material and Methods: Patients presenting with the classical features of Ardhavabhedaka and between the age group of 18 to 60 years irrespective of sex were selected and allotted in Group A and B with 20 patients in each group. Group A was administered with Nasya with Prapaundarikadi Taila and Group B with Shirodhara with Prapaundarikadi Taila for 7 days. Result: Data was tabulated and analyzed using Student t-test, paired proportion test, which showed marked improvement in patients with Ardhavabhedaka in both the groups. Nasya and Shirodhara with Prapaundarikadi Taila is proved effective in all patients. According to percentage wise relief in the symptoms of Ardhavabhedaka in Group A and B, Group A showed comparatively better relief. Conclusion: On the basis of the results of this study, it can be clearly concluded that Nasya performed with Prapaundarikadi Taila provided significant relief in the signs and symptoms of Ardhavabhedaka than Shirodhara performed with Prapaundarikadi Taila

India has 22 officially recognized languages: Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Nepali, Oriya, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. Clearly, India owns the language diversity problem. In the age of Internet, the multiplicity of languages makes it even more necessary to have sophisticated Systems for Natural Language Process. In this paper we are developing the phonetic dictionary for natural language processing particularly for Kannada. Phonetics is the scientific study of speech sounds. Acoustic phonetics studies the physical properties of sounds and provides a language to distinguish one sound from another in quality and quantity. Kannada language is one of the major Dravidian languages of India. The language uses forty nine phonemic letters, divided into three groups: Swaragalu (thirteen letters); Yogavaahakagalu (two letters); and Vyanjanagalu (thirty-four letters), similar to the vowels and consonants of English, respectively

Design of Pseudo Random Binary Sequence Generator using VHDL

Pseudo Random binary Sequence Generator technique are used for various cryptographic applications and for designing encoder, decoder in different communication channel . The implementation of PRBS generator is based on the linear feedback shift register (LFSR).The total number of random state generated by the LFSR depends on the feedback polynomial. It is nothing but a simple counter so it can count maximum of 2n -1 cycle by using maximum feedback polynomial. In this paper, the entire design of the PRBS generator is implemented using VHDL
